Congratulations to Nancy Gall-Clayton

Nancy had “Theatre Tasting,” a sampling of scripts from a new anthology called SCENES from the Common Wealth: Short Plays & Monologues by Kentucky Women (November 2013).   MotesBooks publisher Kate Larken and several Louisville-area playwrights have organized this free event with local actors reading excerpts of plays by Naomi Wallace, Sallie Bingham, Liz Fentress, Constance Alexander, Belinda Mason, Trish Ayers, and Brenda K. Congratulations to Jeff Landen

Jeff, a Bibi the Play member and a great supporter of our organization, announced to the Board his success in bringing to Cincinnati the National Theatre Live encore broadcasts.  Folks, this is a major breakthrough and achievement.  National Theatre Live is the National Theatre's groundbreaking project to broadcast the best of British theatre from the London stage to cinemas across the UK and around the world - now including CINCINNATI!  All events, sponsored by Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, will be presented at the Springdale 18 Cinema de Lux, at 12064 Springfield Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45246.  

Season Opener was Othello - October 20 at 7 p.m.

Tajci announced the celebrating of her 1000th Concert! Saturday, October 26, 2013, at College of Mount Saint Joseph, Cincinnati, OH 45233 http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/436389 Tajci is grateful and humbled by all the amazing opportunities that were sent onto her path in the past few weeks - meetings with great people in Nashville and Los Angeles, filming interviews for "Portraits in Faith" and EWTN's "Life on the Rock" and receiving great reviews for my new single "Keep Your Head Up." Congratulations to Kalman Kivkovich

Kalman was briefly recognized at the Voices of Humanity on August 25th, 2013, by the Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education at their celebration of the 10th anniversary of its permanent exhibit, Mapping Our Tears.  The lavish Gala took place at The Hyatt Regency.

The Center recognized those involved with the exhibit and those who helped educating others about the history of the Holocaust through the personal stories of Holocaust survivors.  Kalman is the author of the book  “In the Vise of Evils” and several other Holocaust-themed plays.

Chris won an Orchid award for Excellence in Acting (2013 ACT), playing Dr. Emmett in The Curious Savage.

Congratulations to Angela Klocke Forbes

Angela won 4 (four) Orchid awards for (2013 ACT): Excellence in Acting, playing Ellen in King of the Moon Curious Savage. Excellence in Producing Cheese Sweethearts Shenanigans. Excellence in Program for Cheese Sweethearts Shenanigans, and Excellence in Original Program Art for The Curious Savage.

Also, Angela's 10-minute play, Flight Path, is a 2013 finalist for the Heideman Award offered through Actors Theatre of Louisville.

Congratulations to Jim Waldfogle

Nancy's Bernice Sizemore's 70th Birthday won $500 and Second Place in the Fort Wayne (IN) Civic Theatre's full-length playwriting competition. It received a staged reading during the 4th Annual Northeast Indiana Playwright Festival Weekend the first weekend in June 2013.

Congratulations to Angela Forbes

Angela's 10-minute play, "Flight Path," was one of eight selected by the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) for inclusion in its New Play Development Workshop, part of the annual ATHE conference in Washington, DC, Aug. 1-5. Angela has been assigned a director, a dramaturg and actors who will help workshop the play and then present it as a script-in-hand production with the other seven plays on the last day of the conference.

Also, Angela's 10-minute play, Reasonable Expectations, is one of 51 finalists for the Heideman award at Actors Theatre of Louisville.

Congratulations to Arnie Shayne

Kudos and congratulations to Arnie Shayne (Arnold Schwartz), a longtime and active Bibi the Play member, for winning the 2012 Rieveschl Award for Creative and/or Scholarly Works.  This is the highest scientific achievement award UC gives and was set up through the generosity of Dr. George Rieveschl who invented Benedryl, the world’s first anti-histamine.  Arnie received the award at a special award’s ceremony on May 17th.

Tajci is celebrating her 900th Concert in her “I do Believe” Series.

Recently back from Croatia, Bibi the Play Member, Tatiana Cameron, known internationally as Tajči, is again on another concert tour on the east coast, Midwest and North Dakota.  One of her concert shows is being broadcast regularly now on the biggest international catholic TV channel.  Tajči is in the process of finishing a pop album in both English and Croatian. Some of the songs are from her play, "My Perfectly beautiful life."

Congratulations to Nancy Gall-Clayton

Nancy’s short comedy Encounter at the Ink Spot premiered in August as part of the Ten-Tucky Ten-Minute Play Festival at the Bard's Town in Louisville, Kentucky.  Her full-length romantic comedy The Snowflake Theory (Bibi the Play New Voices 2005) won 2nd place in McKinney Repertory Theatre's Play Contest, and will have a reading at McKinney Repertory Theatre in McKinney, Texas, in summer 2012.  Her full-length Civil War drama General Orders No. 11 (Bibi the Play New Voices 2002) had a reading at the Jewish Community Center in San Diego, CA, in November 2011, as part of a sesquicentennial Civil War event.  It also is tentatively scheduled for a reading in Louisville during Presidents Day Weekend in an event for Jewish high school students. Congratulations to Tatiana (Tajci) Cameron

Tajči remakes a Classic.  20 years after her first hit single, "Hajde da Ludujemo" (“Let's go Crazy") that made her a superstar and an idol in the former Yugoslavia in the early '90s, Tajči is ready for a reunion concert tour to her home country, and rereleasing one of her favorite songs of all time: "Dvije Zvjezdice" (“Two Stars”), the first of several singles to be released soon, with coproduction efforts led by the powerhouse duo of Chris Gero of Yamaha Entertainment Group and GRAMMY Award winning Bryan Lenox.  Watch, read and enjoy.

Playwright Kevin Del Principe and Pandora's Artistic Director Michael Drury have created a compelling and unique staged reading entitled the GLBTQ Youth Project through writing workshops, conversations, and interviews with students from The Louisville Youth Group and the University of Louisville's commonGround LGBTQQIA organization. Looking Glass Theatre in New York City produced Juice, Nancy's short play about capital punishment, as part of its Winter Forum December, 2010. The Forum is a festival of new works featuring emerging women playwrights and directors. Nancy is also enjoying her duties as chair of a playwriting contest sponsored by the Southeastern Theatre Conference for high school students living in one of the 10 states in the SETC region. Angela directed "The Lunacy of Love (as told in 2 locations and 5 short comedies)" -- a production of five one-act comedies, two of which she authored, for Village Players of Fort Thomas. February 2011. The first "act" takes place in a cafe and comprises Sure Thing by David Ives, Are You Ready? by David Auburn, and Angela's own It's All Fun and Games Until the Iguana Bites. Congratulations to Roger Collins

Roger’s Play, Pomp and Circumstances, was produced by Pipeline productions in August, 2010. Graduation day is a week away when the proud Black parents of the soon-to-be graduate pay their son a surprise visit. But who in this family will get the biggest surprise? And who will find this week before commencement truly a beginning? This is a play about hidden conflicts within a family and the unforeseen results of bringing secrets to light. The was performed in the FATH Auditorium of the Cincinnati Art Museum.

Angela Angela received 2 Orchird Awards at the 2009-2010 Ohio Community Theatre Association (OCTA) conference.  Her Awards were for Excellence in Programs and Original Program design.

Roger's one-minute play, Colonoscopy, has been accepted by Spare Change Theater in NY, to be part of an "In a New York Minute" festival in April 2010. Congratulations to Bridget Ossmann

Virginia Budge is a fictional character created by Bridget in her musical comedy Teacher Left Behind. Virginai is a retired teacher who believes state tests and grade point averages do not show the full talents and potential of any individual. Virginia Budge feels, as many educators feel, that students are "more than a test score." Bridget, as well as her sister Bekka Eaton are both committee members of the Virginia Budge Award for the Creative and Performing Arts. Congratulations to Roger Collins

Roger’s one act play, The Long Way Home, was part of 2010 Cincinnati Fringe Festival. The play had its debut reading with Bibi the Play New Voices in March 2009. Starred in the production were: Darryl Hilton, Reggie Willis and Khrys Styles; Directed by Kevin Crowley. All Performances were at Media Bridges, in Cincinnati, OH.  A homeless veteran of the Iraq war journeys back to the home he lost, carrying sorrows and resentments - and a loaded Colt .380. The people he meets along the way stir memories and fantasies, and prepare him, unknowingly, for his climactic confrontation with the occupants of his former home.

Rhonda's play The Global Lovers was part of the 2010 Cincinnati Fringe Festival. Bibi the Play sponsored the staged reading of her play at the Aronoff in February 2009. Directed by e.E. Charlton-Trujillo. All Performances were at A Lucky Step, in Cincinnati, OH. A privileged woman living in Kentucky. A sex slave known as Girl on the other side of the world. What could possibly bring them together by the end of The Global Lovers? Inspired in part by the story of Aisha Parveen, a former sex slave in Pakistan, this poetic drama explores sex slavery and its relationship to American consumer culture.

Roger’s ten-minute play Testing Val, Au Natural won second place among six participants in Dayton’s March 2010 Short and Sweet Playfest. A high school student coping with Attention Deficit Disorder shares her thoughts while taking an exam on human sexuality.

2 of Kalman's new short plays, Hell on I-71 and Cicadas on Us, were staged read on September 3, 2009, at Eden Park's Seasongood Pavilion (5:30 PM), as part of Pre-Show series under the banner "From Bibi the Play to Shakespeare." The staged readings were followed by Cincinnati Outdoor Shakespeare's performance of As You Like It by William Shakespeare.

Alan received a City of Cincinnati Individual Artist Grant to write and produce Only When I Bleed. He chronicles the experiences of members of a support group as they struggle to come to terms with their desire to inflict self-harm by cutting themselves. The play was staged at the Madisonville Arts Center (MAC) in February 2009.

Roger’s Play Pomp and Circumstances was selected for a staged reading at the 2008 Cincinnati New ight Festival at the Aronoff Center for the Arts, Rehearsal Hall. The play was also selected in Indiana as a finalist for the Bloomington Playwrights Project 2007/2008 Reva Playwriting Contest. It was also selected for a staged reading at the 9th Annual Juneteenth Jamboree of New Plays (June 2008, Louisville, KY).  Produced by Juneteenth Legacy Theatre, and hosted by Actors Theatre, Louisville, KY.

Arnie’s Blue Chip Players ( http://www.bluechipplayers.net ) produced the Cincinnati area premiere of Address Unknown, a riveting holocaust drama set in Munich and San Francisco, from the best-selling novel by the late Katherine Kressman Taylor at the Monmouth Theatre, Newport, KY (June 2008). Arnie Shayne co-starred. At the same time Arnie also produced Phil Paradise's drama Footprints of the Polar Bear.

Congratulations to Arnie Shayne

Arnie won the Grand Prize at 2008 Cincinnati Directors’ Competition for directing Footprints of the Polar Bear (written by Phil Paradise, past Bibi the Play President).  Blue Chip Players produced the play.  The Cincinnati Directors Competition was presented by New Edgecliff Theatre.

Soon after, Arnie acted in a staged reading of a new play Flutterbies by Frank Christopher, at the Producers Club in the Big Apple.  Arnie played a 110-year-old grandfather with a sharp mind, and a foul mouth.

Cisco's one-act Kin Under the Skin, a comedy about reparations for slavery, was performed recently at The Rudyard Kipling in Louisville.
